Dahl, who has a Masters of Education in Educational Leadership and was a classroom teacher for 15 years, wanted to produce a book for adults based on the same principles that she’d successfully taught in her signature Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) program for teens, YOUTH Positive, which was implemented in a number of schools in Nevada and California.
The author drew upon her rich educational background and her passion for lifelong learning to write the book. Dahl holds a certificate of Applied Positive Psychology from the WholeBeing Institute; she’s a certified instructor of Cultivating Emotional Balance; and she’s an instructor of yoga and meditation as well. Dahl is the co-founder Mindful SEAD, a nonprofit organization established to support educators in teaching mindful social and emotional learning. She has also taught graduate level courses for Sierra Nevada University on social, emotional, and academic development.
Kristin Robison is an author and lecturer who has practiced occupational therapy in clinical and school settings for over twenty years. She has a master’s degree in Occupational Therapy from Midwestern University and a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Washington.
Her unique approach was developed and refined through clinical expertise and real-world experiences to address the social and emotional needs of our youth and to help adults see behavior in a different way so their responses might be more effective. Her current book, “The Secret to Happy” helps families uncover the meaning behind behavior and provides practical strategies to help children navigate the many challenges of their school, home, and social worlds.
